Give clean cars a green light

The Bush administration wants to put the brakes on cleaner, greener cars, but Environment America, our national federation, is taking legal action to stop them. Environment America supported a lawsuit designed to force the Bush EPA to approve the program. Along with other environmental organizations, we objected to the EPA’s Dec. 19 denial of a Clean Air Act waiver for California and 12 other states to implement global warming pollution standards for cars and trucks—a decision made over the objections of the EPA’s own legal and scientific staff.

“The Bush EPA might be in global warming denial, but the American people are not. We’re appealing this case to the courts and, if need be, we’ll appeal it to the next president,” said Environment Iowa’s Andrew Hug.

Environment Iowa also applauded Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller for joining the lawsuit.
